Sautéed Shrimp

Here is a simple recipe to prepare sautéed shrimp with an Italian twist:

Ingredients

  • 400 g of fresh or frozen shrimp
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • Chopped fresh parsley (to taste)
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Black pepper (to taste)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Chili pepper (optional)

Preparation

  1. If you are using frozen shrimp, allow them to thaw completely. Clean the shrimp by removing the head, tail, and shell. Make a slit along the back and remove the intestinal tract.
  2. In a large pan, heat a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and add the peeled garlic cloves. Sauté for one minute over medium heat without letting them brown too much.
  3. Add the shrimp to the pan and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, until they turn pink and slightly golden.
  4. Deglaze with the lemon juice, add salt, pepper, and the chili pepper if desired, letting it flavor for a few minutes.
  5. Lastly, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley before turning off the heat.
  6. Serve the shrimp immediately while hot, accompanied if you wish by lemon wedges for those who want to add a bit more acidity.
