Pan-fried Mackerel
17/11/2023Mackerel is a very tasty and healthy fish, rich in Omega-3. Here is how to prepare pan-fried mackerel in Italian style:
Ingredients
- 2 fresh mackerels, gutted and cleaned
- 1 clove of garlic
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- Juice of half a lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Wheat flour (optional)
Preparation
- Start by washing the mackerels thoroughly under cold running water, then dry them with kitchen paper.
- If you like, you can lightly flour the mackerels. This step is not necessary, but it will help create a crispy crust during cooking.
- Heat a drizzle of oil in a large pan over medium heat and add the clove of garlic, crushed or whole, according to your taste, to flavor the oil.
- When the oil is hot and the garlic starts to sizzle, carefully place the mackerels in the pan.
- Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, depending on their size, until the skin becomes crispy and golden.
- During cooking, season with salt and pepper to taste and sprinkle with lemon juice to add a tangy note that contrasts with the savory taste of the fish.
- Once cooked, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley to add a touch of freshness and color to the dish.
Serve the mackerels hot and accompany them, if you wish, with seasonal vegetables sautéed in a pan or with a simple salad.
