Sautéed Chard

Here is the recipe for sautéed chard, a light and healthy side dish perfect to accompany meat or fish dishes. Let’s look at the ingredients and the method together.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams of chard (already cleaned)
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • Extra virgin olive oil to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Chili pepper (optional)

Preparation

  1. Start by cleaning the chard, removing the toughest and most fibrous parts of the stems, and washing the leaves under running water.
  2. Put the chard in a pot with plenty of salted water and let it blanch for about 5 minutes. The time may vary depending on their tenderness.
  3. Drain the chard and let it cool down, then squeeze out the excess water.
  4. In a large frying pan, heat a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and add the peeled garlic cloves (whole for easy removal or sliced if you prefer to leave them in the dish).
  5. Once the garlic is golden brown (be careful not to burn it), remove it from the pan and add the chard.
  6. Sauté the chard in the pan for a few minutes, just long enough to flavor it and heat it through.
  7. Season with salt, and if you like, you can add a pinch of chili pepper to add a bit of spice to the dish.
  8. Serve hot as a side dish.
