Yogurt orange and chocolate muffins

Yogurt muffins with orange and chocolate are sweet temptations perfect for breakfast or as a snack. Here’s how to prepare them:

Ingredients

  • 250 g of all-purpose flour
  • 150 g of sugar
  • 1 pot of orange yogurt (125 g)
  • 2 eggs
  • 80 ml of seed oil
  • Grated zest of 1 orange (organic if possible)
  • Juice of half an orange
  • 100 g of chocolate chips (or chopped dark chocolate)
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • A pinch of salt

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour with the sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  2. In another bowl, beat the eggs with the yogurt, oil, grated orange zest, and orange juice until smooth.
  3. Combine the liquid mix with the dry ingredients and mix gently to avoid deflating the batter.
  4. Add the chocolate chips to the batter, mixing carefully to distribute them evenly.
  5. Prepare a muffin tin by lining each slot with paper cups.
  6. Fill them with the mixture up to 3/4 of their capacity.
  7. Preheat the oven to 180 °C and bake the muffins for about 20 minutes or until they are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove the muffins from the oven and let them cool on a cooling rack before serving.

Some curiosities: These muffins are interesting because they combine the freshness and aroma of orange with the deliciousness of chocolate. Furthermore, the yogurt not only makes the dessert soft but also makes the dough lighter. If you want, you can give an Italian touch by replacing the seed oil with some light extra virgin olive oil, which will add a distinctive and healthy note to the recipe.
