Mushroom Meatballs
17/11/2023Mushroom meatballs are a delicious dish and can be prepared in various ways. Here is a basic recipe that you can then customize to your taste. Since I am Il Cucinologo, I will provide you with a small Italian twist on this dish.
Ingredients
- 500 g of ground meat (beef, pork, or a combination of the two)
- 300 g of mushrooms (champignons or porcini for a more intense flavor)
- 1 large egg
- 50 g of grated Parmesan cheese
- 70 g of breadcrumbs
- 2 cloves of garlic
- Fresh parsley to taste
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Extra virgin olive oil
Preparation
-
Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth and slice them finely. In a pan, cook the mushrooms with a drizzle of olive oil and a minced garlic clove until they are golden and all the water has evaporated. Once ready, set them aside in a bowl to cool.
-
In a large bowl, mix ground meat with the egg, Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper to taste. Add the cooled mushrooms and mix everything carefully.
-
Shape the meatballs to the desired size with the prepared mixture, making sure to compact them well so they don’t fall apart during cooking.
-
In a large pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil and cook the meatballs for 5-8 minutes, turning them gently until they are golden brown on all sides and well cooked inside.
-
Serve the mushroom meatballs hot, accompanied by a side of vegetables or, if you prefer, with a tomato sauce to add an Italian touch of flavor.
