Cake in a Cup
17/11/2023The cake in a cup, also known as mug cake, is a fast and convenient dessert that can be made directly in a cup and cooked in just a few minutes in the microwave. Here I leave you a classic version with an Italian twist, for example by adding a bit of coffee or a spoonful of Nutella, typical flavors of the Bel Paese.
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons of flour
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
- 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder (provided that you like the taste of chocolate)
- A pinch of salt
- 3 tablespoons of milk
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional)
- 2 tablespoons of seed oil (or melted butter)
- 1 egg
- (Optional) 1 tablespoon of Nutella or instant coffee for an Italian touch
Preparation
- In a large microwave-safe cup, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Add the egg and mix well with a fork until fully incorporated.
- Add the milk, oil, and vanilla extract and mix until you have a smooth batter.
- If you wish to add an Italian flavor, you can now put a spoonful of Nutella in the center of the batter without stirring or a teaspoon of instant coffee in the batter and mix it in.
- Microwave on high power for about 1-2 minutes. Cooking time can vary depending on the power of your microwave, so keep an eye on the cake and do tests to understand the perfect timing.
- Let the cake cool for a minute before enjoying it directly from the cup.
