Mortadella Mousse
17/11/2023The mortadella mousse is a delicious and original appetizer that can be served on slices of toast or as a filling for vol-au-vents. Here’s how to prepare it:
Ingredients
- 200 g of Bologna mortadella
- 100 g of fresh ricotta
- 50 g of grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons of fresh cream
- A few drops of lemon juice (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste (be careful with the salt, as the mortadella is already flavorful)
Preparation
- Cut the mortadella into small pieces, removing any rind parts.
- Place the mortadella in the blender with the ricotta and blend until you get a homogenous mixture.
- Transfer the mix to a bowl and incorporate the grated Parmesan cheese.
- Add the fresh cream and, if you like, a few drops of lemon juice. Mix well to blend all the ingredients.
- Taste and adjust the salt and pepper to your liking.
- Let the mousse rest in the refrigerator for at least one hour before serving. This step will help the mousse to set and intensify its flavors.
You can serve the mortadella mousse on toasted bread crostini, in small bowls as a dip for breadsticks and raw vegetables, or use it as a filling for savory tartlets or vol-au-vents.
