Snowflake Puffs with Mortadella and Pistachio

Here is the recipe to prepare delicious Snowflake Puffs with Mortadella and Pistachio, a dish that combines typical Italian flavors with a gourmet touch.

Ingredients

  • 300 g of “snowflake” type pasta (or puff pastry if you can’t find the specific one)
  • 150 g of mortadella sliced thin
  • 100 g of unsalted pistachios
  • 200 g of fresh ricotta
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 egg (for brushing the pastry)

Preparation

  1. Start by lightly toasting the pistachios in a non-stick pan for 2-3 minutes. Let them cool and then finely chop them.
  2. In a bowl, mix the ricotta with the chopped pistachios, a pinch of salt, and pepper to taste.
  3. Roll out the snowflake pasta on a lightly floured work surface. If you are using puff pastry, cut it into squares of about 10 cm on each side.
  4. Take a slice of mortadella and cut it to the same size as the pasta.
  5. Place a teaspoon of the ricotta and pistachios filling in the center of each square of pastry, and cover with the slice of mortadella.
  6. Close the pastry forming a triangle, or seal it well on the sides if you are using the snowflake shape, pressing the edges to seal the filling.
  7. Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush each puff with it.
  8. Preheat the oven to 200 °C and arrange the puffs on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake the snowflake puffs for about 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is golden and crispy.
  10. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
