Milk Slice Ice Creams

Milk slice ice cream is a fresh and delightful dessert reminiscent of the famous ice cream snacks. The preparation of this recipe involves several steps to create the various layers, but the result is delicious. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 500 ml of whole milk
  • 200 ml of whipping cream
  • 150 g of sugar
  • 1 vanilla pod or 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 3 sheets of gelatin (6 g)
  • 150 g of white chocolate
  • 100 g of dark chocolate for the coating

Preparation

  1. For the creamy milk base, heat the milk with vanilla and sugar in a saucepan. Bring almost to a boil and then remove from heat.
  2. Place the sheets of gelatin in cold water to soften for about 5 minutes.
  3. Once the gelatin is softened, squeeze out any excess water and add it to the warm milk. Stir well until completely dissolved.
  4. Allow the milk mixture to cool down.
  5. Meanwhile, whip the cream. When the milk is lukewarm, gently fold it into the whipped cream to obtain a smooth mixture.
  6. Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave, then mix it with a small portion of the milk cream.
  7. Pour the white chocolate cream into a rectangular mold previously lined with cling film, creating a layer about half a centimeter thick. Leave to rest in the refrigerator until it has set.
  8. Pour the remaining milk cream over the top, level well, and place in the freezer for at least 4 hours, or until completely solidified.
  9. For the topping, melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave and let it cool down.
  10. Once the ice cream is hardened, unmold it and pour the melted dark chocolate over it, creating the coating effect. Allow the chocolate to solidify.
  11. Slice the ice cream into bars or squares and serve.

Curiosity

Milk slice ice cream is inspired by the classic frozen bars available in stores, but it is homemade with simple and natural ingredients, which means it can be customized according to your own taste, for example by using milk chocolate or different flavors for the cream.
