Mascarpone Cream
17/11/2023Mascarpone cream is a classic ingredient in Italian cuisine, often used as a base for many desserts, including the famous tiramisu. Here is the recipe to prepare a delicious mascarpone cream:
Ingredients
- 250 grams of mascarpone
- 2 egg yolks (make sure to use fresh, high-quality eggs)
- 60 grams of powdered sugar (or granulated sugar if you prefer)
- 1/2 vanilla bean (or 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract)
- Optional: a pinch of salt
Preparation
- In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks with the sugar using an electric mixer or a manual whisk until you obtain a light and fluffy mixture.
- Split the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the seeds with the tip of a knife. Add the vanilla seeds (or extract) to the egg and sugar mixture and mix well.
- Add the mascarpone to the egg and sugar mixture. If you wish, you can also add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors.
- Work everything with the whisk until you get a smooth and homogeneous cream. Make sure there are no lumps.
- Once ready, the mascarpone cream can be used immediately to fill sweets and desserts or stored in the fridge for a couple of days.
Remember that you can customize the mascarpone cream by adding other flavors as you like, such as a bit of liqueur or grated citrus zest. It is a very versatile ingredient and with a bit of creativity, you can adapt it to match different types of desserts.
