Mussels alla Marinara

Mussels alla Marinara is a classic and flavorful seafood dish. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of fresh, well-cleaned mussels
  • 3 cloves of chopped garlic
  • Chopped fresh parsley to taste
  • 1/2 glass of dry white wine
  • 400 g of peeled tomatoes or a handful of fresh cherry tomatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Chili pepper (optional)

Preparation

  1. In a large pan, sauté the chopped garlic in extra virgin olive oil. If you like it spicy, you can add a pinch of chili pepper.

  2. Once the garlic is golden, add the well-cleaned mussels and stir to flavor them.

  3. Pour in the white wine and let the alcohol evaporate on high heat.

  4. Add the tomatoes, whether you prefer crushed peeled tomatoes or fresh ones cut in half or wedges, and cook everything with the lid closed.

  5. Cook until the mussels have completely opened (about 5-10 minutes), discarding any that remain closed.

  6. Adjust with salt and pepper, then sprinkle with abundant chopped fresh parsley.

Serve in a deep bowl with some of the cooking sauce and toasted or fresh bread on the side for dipping. Mussels alla Marinara can be enjoyed as an appetizer or as a main course, accompanied by a glass of cold white wine. Enjoy your meal!
