Iced mocha

Iced Mocha is a cold beverage made from coffee, chocolate, and milk, very refreshing and perfect for lovers of rich and strong flavors. Here is how to make a delicious Iced Mocha:

Ingredients

  • Cold espresso coffee (about 60 ml)
  • Milk (120 ml)
  • Chocolate syrup (to taste, about 2 tablespoons)
  • Crushed ice or ice cubes
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • Cocoa powder or chocolate shavings for garnishing (optional)

Preparation

  1. Prepare an espresso and let it cool down completely. You can also use a pre-made one and refrigerate it for a while.
  2. In a tall glass, put a generous amount of crushed ice or ice cubes.
  3. Pour the cold espresso over the ice.
  4. Add the chocolate syrup to taste, according to your preference for sweetness and chocolate intensity.
  5. Slowly pour the milk over the coffee and chocolate syrup to create distinct layers.
  6. At this point, you can gently stir for a marbled effect or leave the layers separated for a nice visual effect.
  7. If you like, add a generous amount of whipped cream on top.
  8. Garnish with a sprinkle of cocoa or chocolate shavings.
  9. Insert a straw and serve immediately.

For an Italian touch, you could replace some of the milk with vanilla or hazelnut ice cream, which will slowly melt, creating an affogato version of Iced Mocha. If desired, you can also add a coffee or chocolate liqueur to create an alcoholic variant suitable for a summer after-dinner drink.

Curiosity

Iced Mocha combines the tradition of mocha coffee, which is named after the port of Mocha in Yemen, renowned in the past for its coffee export, with the freshness of iced drinks, especially appreciated during the hot months.
