Honey Roasted Shrimp

Here is a recipe to prepare some delicious honey roasted shrimp with an Italian twist. Before you start, make sure you have all the necessary ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 500g of shrimp, shelled and cleaned
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika (or chili pepper if you prefer a spicy touch)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven on the grill setting.
  2. In a large bowl, combine honey, extra virgin olive oil, chopped garlic, lemon juice, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well until you have a smooth emulsion.
  3. Add the shrimp to the bowl and make sure they are well coated with the marinade. Let them marinate for about 10-15 minutes.
  4. Drain the shrimp from the marinade, but do not throw away the remaining liquid.
  5. Arrange the shrimp on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure not to overlap them.
  6. Place the shrimp under the oven grill and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until they turn pink and slightly golden. During cooking, baste the shrimp with the remaining marinade to add extra flavor and shine.
  7. Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the oven and sprinkle with a bit of chopped fresh parsley and an additional squirt of lemon juice, if desired.

Honey roasted shrimp are delicious both hot and at room temperature. Serve them as an appetizer or main course, possibly accompanied by a fresh salad or garlic bread crostini.
