Homemade Peanut Butter

I can provide you with the recipe to make homemade peanut butter, which is surprisingly simple and requires few ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams of roasted and shelled peanuts (unsalted)
  • 1-2 tablespoons of peanut oil or neutral oil (optional)
  • A pinch of salt (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F) and roast the peanuts on a baking sheet in a single layer for about 10 minutes. Make sure they do not burn by stirring them halfway through cooking. This step is optional if the peanuts are already roasted.

  2. Let the peanuts cool down slightly.

  3. Place the peanuts in the food processor and process at high speed. After a few minutes, the peanuts will go from a granular consistency to forming a paste and finally will become creamy. This process can take from 5 to 10 minutes depending on the power of your food processor.

  4. If the peanuts are too dry or if you desire a softer consistency, add the peanut oil in a thin stream while the processor is still running.

  5. If desired, you can add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor of the peanuts.

  6. Taste and adjust for salt or sweetness (you can add a tablespoon of honey or sugar if you like).

  7. Once the desired consistency is reached, transfer the peanut butter to an airtight container.

  8. Store the peanut butter in the refrigerator. It can be kept for several weeks.
