Apple Heart Puff Pastries
17/11/2023Apple Heart Puff Pastries are a delightful and easy-to-make dessert. Excellent for a special breakfast or as an after-dinner dessert. Here is the recipe to prepare them:
Ingredients
- 1 sheet of rectangular puff pastry
- 2 apples (Golden or Fuji, for example)
- Lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1 egg yolk for brushing
- Powdered sugar for decorating (optional)
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 190 °C (375 °F).
- Unroll the puff pastry and cut it into squares or rectangles; these will be the bases for your pastries.
- Peel the apples, remove the core, and cut them into thin slices. Put the slices in a bowl with lemon juice to prevent them from browning.
- In a bowl, mix the granulated sugar with the cinnamon.
- Arrange the apple slices onto the puff pastry squares, leaving about 1 cm border.
- Sprinkle the apples with the sugar and cinnamon mixture.
- If you wish, you can now cut out another piece of puff pastry in the shape of a heart and place it over the apples, sealing the edges with your fingers or a fork.
- Brush the pastries gently with the beaten egg yolk.
- Bake the pastries for about 20 minutes or until the puff pastry turns golden and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and, if desired, dust the pastries with powdered sugar before serving.
Curiosity
Puff pastry is a very versatile dough in Italian and French pastry. These two countries contest its origin, but what is certain is that puff pastry-based sweets (such as sfogliatelle or croissants) are loved all over the world. Apple Heart Puff Pastries combine the simplicity of puff pastry with the natural sweetness of apples, creating a perfect harmony for the palate.
Happy cooking and enjoy your meal!
