Hamburger with Melting Heart
17/11/2023The hamburger with a melting heart is a tempting version of the classic hamburger, where a soft heart of melted cheese surprises at the first bite. Here is the recipe with a small Italian twist, which in this case could be the use of a typical cheese like scamorza.
Ingredients
- 500 grams of ground beef
- 4 slices of scamorza (or another melting cheese, such as mozzarella or fontina)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Hamburger bun
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Red onion
- Sauce of your choice (ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, etc.)
- Extra virgin olive oil
Preparation
- Take the ground beef and divide it into eight equal portions. Press each portion to form eight thin discs.
- Place a slice of scamorza in the center of four of the meat discs.
- Cover each cheese-topped disc with another meat disc, sealing the edges well to encase the cheese. Ensure that the cheese is completely covered by meat on all sides to prevent it from leaking out during cooking.
- Season the hamburgers with salt and pepper to your taste.
- Preheat a pan or grill over medium-high heat and, once hot, cook the hamburgers for about 3-4 minutes per side, depending on thickness and your preferred degree of doneness.
- Meanwhile, prepare the buns: cut them in half and lightly toast them on the grill or in the oven.
- Wash and dry the lettuce, slice the tomatoes, and red onion.
- Assemble the hamburger: on the bottom half of the bun, place the lettuce, tomato, and red onion, followed by the hamburger with the melting heart.
- Add the sauce or sauces you prefer and top with the upper half of the bun.
