Grilled Pineapple with Honey and Cinnamon
23/11/2023Grilled pineapple with honey and cinnamon is a simple but surprisingly delicious dessert that combines the sweetness of honey with the spicy aroma of cinnamon, all enhanced by the caramelized pineapple. Here’s how to prepare it:
Ingredients
- 1 ripe but still firm pineapple
- 2-3 tablespoons of honey
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- A pinch of salt (optional)
- Butter or oil for greasing the grill (if necessary)
Preparation
-
Turn on the grill (or a griddle) over medium-high heat and let it warm up well. If it tends to stick, you can grease it lightly with some butter or oil.
-
In the meantime, peel the pineapple and cut it into slices about 1 cm thick, removing the tough central core.
-
Sprinkle the pineapple slices with a bit of cinnamon and a pinch of salt, which helps to enhance the fruit’s sweetness.
-
Once the grill is ready, place the pineapple slices on it and let them cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are caramelized and grill marks form.
-
At this point, flip the slices over, and while the second side is cooking, brush the top with a thin layer of honey, so it can melt and adhere well to the pineapple.
-
Serve the pineapple slices warm, perhaps accompanied by vanilla ice cream or an extra dusting of cinnamon.
