Grilled Pleurotus

Pleurotus mushrooms, also known as “oyster” mushrooms, are delicious mushrooms that are very suitable for grilling. Here is a simple recipe to prepare them in a tasty way.

Ingredients

  • 500 g of Pleurotus mushrooms
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • Lemon juice as needed
  • Chopped parsley as needed
  • Extra virgin olive oil as needed
  • Salt as needed
  • Pepper as needed

Preparation

  1. Gently clean the Pleurotus mushrooms with a damp cloth to remove any soil residues. Avoid washing them under running water because they absorb moisture and could become soggy.
  2. If the mushrooms are very large, you can cut them in half or into more pieces to get more manageable slices.
  3. Preheat a grill or griddle for cooking.
  4. In a bowl, prepare a marinade by mixing extra virgin olive oil, finely chopped garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  5. Brush the mushrooms with the prepared marinade and let them rest for a few minutes. If you have time, you can also marinate them for 30 minutes to intensify the flavor.
  6. Grill the mushrooms on both sides until they are golden brown and slightly crispy on the edges. The cooking time will depend on the size of the mushrooms and the heat of the grill.
  7. Once cooked, transfer them to a serving dish and sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley.
  8. Serve the mushrooms hot, perhaps with additional lemon juice and a drizzle of raw oil to taste.
