Green Apple Sorbet
17/11/2023I can suggest a recipe for a refreshing and pleasant green apple sorbet.
Ingredients
- 500 g of green apples (like Granny Smith)
- 150 g of sugar
- 200 ml of water
- Juice of 1 lemon
- A few mint leaves for decoration (optional)
Preparation
- Wash the apples, peel them, remove the cores, and cut them into cubes.
- In a small pot, create a syrup by bringing the water and sugar to a boil. Stir until the sugar has completely dissolved, then let it cool.
- Blend the apple cubes with the lemon juice until you get a smooth mixture.
- Combine the cooled syrup with the apple mixture and mix well.
- Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker following the machine’s instructions or if you don’t have an ice cream maker, put the mixture in a container and place it in the freezer.
- If you’re using the freezer, stir the sorbet every 30-40 minutes for the first 3 hours, to prevent ice crystals from forming and to obtain a soft consistency.
- Once the sorbet has reached the desired consistency, it is ready to be served.
- Serve the sorbet in small bowls, decorating with mint leaves if you want to add a touch of color and freshness.
You can customize this sorbet by adding flavors or spices, such as cinnamon or vanilla, or a bit of fresh ginger for a spicy note. Remember that the best texture of the sorbet is achieved using an ice cream maker, but even with the manual method, you can get good results with a bit more effort.
Curiosity
Sorbet is a very ancient dessert and it is believed that its origins go back to the time of the Roman Empire, when it was prepared by cooling fruit juices and wine with snow. It is a much-loved preparation in Italy, especially in summer, for its ability to refresh and delight the palate.
