Goat Cheese Balls

Goat cheese balls are a very nice and appetizing appetizer or snack. They are simple to prepare, and it’s possible to personalize them with various coatings to satisfy all tastes!

Ingredients

  • 200 g of soft goat cheese
  • Fresh aromatic herbs of your choice (e.g., chives, thyme, rosemary)
  • Chopped walnuts or pistachios
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds
  • Ground black pepper
  • Grated lemon zest (optional for a fresh touch)
  • Extra virgin olive oil (optional)

Preparation

  1. Start by finely chopping the aromatic herbs you have chosen.
  2. If you like, you can also chop walnuts or pistachios for a crunchy coating, or prepare a small dish with sesame or poppy seeds.
  3. Take the goat cheese and, if it is very compact, soften it by working it briefly with a fork.
  4. With slightly damp hands, form small balls with the cheese, of the desired size.
  5. Now roll each ball first in olive oil (if you decide to use it, to help the ingredients adhere better), then in the chopped herbs, in the chopped dried fruit or in the chosen seeds.
  6. Place the balls on a serving plate and sprinkle them, if desired, with a little ground black pepper and grated lemon zest to enrich the flavor.
  7. Let them rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving, so that the flavors meld together and the balls become more compact.

Goat cheese balls can be served on a bed of fresh salad, as part of a mixed appetizer, or simply as a delicious snack.
