- Fresh chives, to taste
- 1 egg (for brushing)
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
- Roll out the puff pastry and with a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out many hearts.
- Transfer the hearts onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg and lightly brush the surface of the hearts to give them color and shine during baking.
- Bake the hearts for about 10-15 minutes, or until golden.
- In the meantime, take the goat cheese and work it with a pinch of salt and pepper. Add the finely chopped chives and mix well to evenly distribute the herb within the cheese.
- Once the hearts are cooked and have cooled, spread a little goat cheese on each heart and then decorate with additional pieces of chives.
Curiosity
Puff pastry hearts are a play on shape and flavor that lend themselves to many variations. Chives not only add a touch of fresh and slightly spicy flavor, but are also an aromatic herb that traditionally symbolizes good health and happiness in the home. So these hearts are not only a pleasure for the palate but also a wish for those who receive them.
If you wish, you can accompany this appetizer with a light and fresh white wine, which pairs well with the creaminess of the goat cheese and the aroma of the chives. Bon appétit!
