Gnocchi with Gorgonzola Cream
17/11/2023Here’s a recipe for gnocchi with gorgonzola cream that you can try. This dish combines the sweetness of potato gnocchi with the savory flavor of gorgonzola, creating a very pleasant balance of flavors.
Ingredients
- Potato gnocchi, store-bought or homemade
- 200 g of sweet or spicy gorgonzola, depending on your preference
- 200 ml of cooking cream
- Nutmeg (optional)
- Salt as needed
- Pepper as needed
- A knob of butter
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
- Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)
Preparazione
- Cook the gnocchi in a pot of boiling salted water following the package instructions or until they float to the surface if homemade.
- Meanwhile, prepare the gorgonzola cream. In a medium heat pan, add the knob of butter and let it melt.
- Add the gorgonzola cut into small pieces and let it melt, stirring gently.
- Pour in the cream and mix until smooth. If you wish, add a grating of nutmeg for extra flavor.
- Lower the heat and adjust the salt and pepper to taste, but be careful with the salt because gorgonzola is already savory on its own.
- Drain the gnocchi and add them directly to the pan with the gorgonzola cream.
- Toss the gnocchi in the sauce for about a minute to allow the cream to completely coat them.
- Serve immediately, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and, if desired, some chopped parsley.
Curiosità
Gorgonzola is a DOP (Protected Designation of Origin) cheese produced mainly in the Italian regions of Lombardy and Piedmont. It comes in two varieties: sweet gorgonzola, which is softer and less spicy, and spicy gorgonzola, with a firmer texture and a more intense flavor. The choice between the two depends on personal taste and the contrast you want to create with the sweetness of the gnocchi.
