Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Butter and flour a bundt cake pan.
  3. In a bowl, sift the flour with the cocoa, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  4. In another bowl, cream the soft butter with the sugar until you have a frothy mixture.
  5. Add the eggs to the butter and sugar mixture, one at a time, fully integrating each before adding the next.
  6. Alternating, add the dry ingredients and milk to the mixture, starting and ending with the flour.
  7. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and level it.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  9. Allow the bundt cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Preparing the Icing:

  1. Melt the broken dark chocolate with the butter and two tablespoons of milk in a double boiler, stirring until you have a smooth, homogenous cream.
  2. When the bundt cake is cold, pour the chocolate icing over the surface, letting it flow down the sides.
  3. Let it rest so that the icing solidifies before serving.

Curiosity

If you want to add an extra touch, you can enrich the dough with chocolate chips or a sprinkling of chopped hazelnuts. And for an Italian touch, you might also flavor the dough with a couple of tablespoons of orange or hazelnut liqueur for an even richer taste.

Buon appetito!
