Ginger Cod Fillet

The ginger cod fillet is a light and aromatic dish, excellent if you’re looking for a simple yet tasty preparation. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients

  • 4 cod fillets (about 150-200g each)
  • 1 fresh ginger root (about 2 cm or to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 clove of garlic (optional)

Preparation

  1. Prepare the cod fillets making sure they are clean and boneless. If they are frozen, let them thaw completely.
  2. Peel the ginger and grate it finely. If you prefer a less intense flavor, you can reduce the amount to taste.
  3. If you decide to use garlic, peel it and crush it with the side of a knife.
  4. In a large pan, heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat and, if using garlic, sauté for a couple of minutes until golden and aromatic, then remove it.
  5. Place the cod fillets in the pan and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. While cooking, distribute the grated ginger over the fillets and sprinkle with lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Once cooked, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley if desired, to add color and freshness.
  8. Serve the cod fillets immediately, accompanied by a portion of steamed vegetables or a mixed salad.
