17/11/2023Spaghetti al tonno fujuti is a variant of the classic spaghetti with tuna, a simple and quick dish to prepare. The term “fujuto” does not appear to correspond to any known term in the Italian language or culinary jargon, but it could be a dialect variation or a homemade denomination. Therefore, I will proceed to provide you with the recipe for spaghetti with tuna, which is a classic dish of Italian cuisine.
Ingredients
- 360 grams of spaghetti
- 200 grams of canned tuna in olive oil
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 400 grams of peeled tomatoes or tomato puree
- Chopped fresh parsley to taste
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste (optional)
- (Optional) Chili or chili powder
Preparation
- Boil a pot of salted water to cook the spaghetti.
- Drain the oil from the tuna and set it aside. If it’s in chunks, flake it with a fork.
- In a large pan, fry the garlic cloves in a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil until they turn golden brown. If you like, you can add some chili at this point to give it a spicy touch.
- Remove the garlic cloves and add the tuna to the pan. Allow to flavor for a few minutes.
- Add the peeled tomatoes or tomato puree, adjust the salt and pepper, and let it cook on medium heat for about 10-15 minutes, until you obtain a thick sauce.
- In the meantime, cook the spaghetti al dente, following the instructions on the package.
- Drain the spaghetti and toss it in the pan with the tuna sauce. Mix well to flavor the pasta.
- Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley and, if desired, add a sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper.
Serve hot and, if you wish, you can complete the dish with a handful of Taggiasca olives or capers for an extra touch of Mediterranean flavor.
