Fruit Cups of All Flavors
17/11/2023Fruit cups are a fresh and colorful dessert that can cater to various tastes thanks to the variety of fruits you can use. Here’s how to prepare them with an Italian touch:
Ingredients
- Assorted fresh fruit (for example, strawberries, kiwis, bananas, blueberries, peaches) - as much as you like
- Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- Granulated sugar - 3 tablespoons (or to taste)
- Fresh mint for garnish - a few leaves
- Vanilla ice cream or Greek yogurt - to serve (optional)
If you want to add an extra touch:
- Crumbled dry biscuits (like cantucci) - for the base
- Orange or lemon liqueur - a couple of tablespoons (optional)
Preparation
- Wash all the fruit well. Cut larger pieces of fruit into sizes that can be comfortably eaten with a teaspoon.
- Mix the cut fruit in a large bowl and sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent oxidation and to add a bit of acidity.
- If you choose to use the orange or lemon liqueur, add it to the fruit and mix well.
- Sprinkle the fruit with granulated sugar and mix gently. Allow to rest for about 10 minutes, so that the fruit releases its natural juices and creates a light sauce.
- If you wish to use crumbled biscuits, distribute a base of crumbled biscuits at the bottom of each cup before adding the fruit.
- Divide the fruit into individual cups, add a fresh mint leaf for garnish, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a quenelle of Greek yogurt if desired.
The fruit cup is a light and versatile dessert that can be customized according to the season and fruit preferences. It is also possible to enrich each cup with ingredients like melted chocolate, whipped cream, or a sprinkle of cinnamon to make it even more special.
Curiosity
The fruit in the cups can also be used as a base for smoothies or shakes. By adding some ice and, if necessary, a liquid like fruit juice or milk, you get a fresh and nutritious drink.
