Fried Egg Yolk

The fried egg yolk is a creative and delicious way to add a touch of elegance to many dishes. Here’s a simple recipe to prepare the fried egg yolk.

Ingredients

  • 4 extremely fresh egg yolks
  • Flour, as needed
  • Breadcrumbs, as needed
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt and pepper (optional)

Preparation

  1. First, carefully separate the yolks from the whites, taking care not to break them.
  2. Place the yolks in the freezer for about two hours; this step is crucial to ensure that the yolks solidify and can be handled without breaking.
  3. Once the yolks are well solidified, prepare a breading station with flour, beaten eggs (the remaining whites can be used here), and breadcrumbs.
  4. Gently roll each yolk first in flour, then in the beaten egg, and finally in breadcrumbs, making sure they are completely coated.
  5. In a deep pan, heat plenty of oil to 180 °C. If you don’t have a kitchen thermometer, you can test the temperature of the oil by putting in a small piece of bread; if it starts to sizzle immediately, the oil is ready.
  6. Fry the breaded yolks for about 30 seconds each, or until they are golden. Do not fry them too long or the yolks will become hard.
  7. Drain them on paper towels and, if you wish, lightly sprinkle them with salt and pepper.
  8. Serve immediately to enjoy their creamy inside and crispy outside.

Fried egg yolks can be used to garnish a variety of dishes, such as salads, burgers, or as an accompaniment to a steak. The crunchy outside and creamy inside create a surprising contrast that can add a touch of sophistication to your dish.
