- Seed oil for frying
- Icing sugar (optional, for a sweet version)

- Spices of choice (optional, such as paprika, pepper, chopped aromatic herbs)
Preparation

- Heat plenty of seed oil in a pan suitable for frying. The oil is ready when immersing a small piece of dough, it fries and comes to the surface immediately.
- Fry the pastries a few at a time, to not lower the temperature of the oil and to prevent them from sticking to each other.
- Once golden, remove the pastries from the oil with a slotted spoon and let them drain and dry on paper towels.
- Depending on your taste, you can sprinkle the hot pastries with a little fine salt, choose spices, or, if you prefer a sweet version, sprinkle with icing sugar once cooled.
Note: Whole wheat puff pastry can also be made at home by mixing whole wheat flour, water, a pinch of salt and butter, but it requires time and a certain skill to obtain thin layers and good puff.
