Seafood Lasagna
17/11/2023Seafood lasagna is a refined and tasty dish that can bring a bit of the sea and elegance to your table. Here’s how to prepare it step by step.
Ingredients
- 200g of egg lasagna sheets (you can opt for the ready-to-bake in the oven type)
- 300g of mixed cleaned seafood (e.g., squid, shrimp, mussels, white fish fillets)
- 250g of béchamel sauce (you can make it at home or use the ready-made one)
- 200g of tomato puree
- 1 clove of garlic
- Fresh parsley to taste
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Extra virgin olive oil to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese to taste
Preparation
- Start by preparing the fish sauce. In a large pan, sauté the garlic with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Once golden, remove the garlic and add the mixed seafood. Cook over medium heat for a few minutes.
- Add the tomato puree to the seafood, salt, and pepper to taste, and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, until the seafood sauce has slightly reduced. At the end of cooking, add the chopped fresh parsley.
- Prepare the egg lasagna sheets following the instructions on the package if they require pre-cooking. Otherwise, if they are ready to use in the oven, you can proceed directly with the assembly of the lasagna.
- In an oven-proof dish, place a first layer of béchamel, then a layer of lasagna sheets on top.
- Add a layer of fish sauce and a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used up, finishing with béchamel and Parmesan.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for about 30 minutes or until a nice golden crust forms on the surface.
- Let it rest a few minutes before serving.
Fun Fact
Seafood lasagna is a lighter and more delicate variant compared to the classic version with meat sauce. This dish is excellent for special occasions and is generally very popular in the coastal regions of Italy, where seafood is particularly fresh and abundant.
You can personalize the recipe with your favorite fish or seasonal ones, and if you like, add a sprinkle of chives or dill to enhance the flavor of the fish. Bon appétit!
