Dippable Cookies

Dippable cookies are a perfect treat to enjoy with a good coffee or a cup of tea. Here’s how to make them.

Ingredients

  • 300 g of all-purpose flour
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 100 g of soft butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • Flavoring to taste (vanilla, lemon, orange, etc.)
  • Powdered sugar for decorating (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. In a large bowl, sift the flour and combine it with the baking powder.
  3. In another bowl, cream the soft butter with the sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, to the butter and sugar mixture, fully incorporating each before adding the next.
  5. Add a pinch of salt and your chosen flavoring to the egg and sugar mixture.
  6. Gradually pour the flour into the egg, butter, and sugar mix, blending well to avoid lumps.
  7. Once the dough is uniform, transfer it to a lightly floured surface and work it briefly.
  8. Divide the dough into several parts and form long, thin logs, which you will place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Gently flatten the logs and, if desired, brush them with a bit of milk or a beaten egg for a shiny finish.
  10. Bake the cookies for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Once baked, let them cool on a wire rack.
  12. If you like, dust the cookies with powdered sugar before serving.

Dippable cookies are perfect for dunking in milk or coffee for a traditional Italian breakfast.

Curiosity

The classic version of dippable cookies is simple and lends itself to variations, such as the addition of chopped dried fruit, chocolate chips, or spices like cinnamon and nutmeg to enrich the flavor.
