Indulgent Churros
17/11/2023Here is the recipe to prepare delicious churros, which are typical fried sweets from Spanish cuisine. To make the churros even more indulgent, we will accompany them with a chocolate sauce for dipping. Remember that this is a traditional version, but with a pinch of Italian creativity, I might suggest adding chopped pistachios or grated orange zest to the dough for a special touch.
Ingredients for the Churros:
- 250 ml of water
- 50 g of butter
- 1 pinch of salt
- 150 g of flour
- 3 medium eggs
- Oil for frying
- Granulated sugar to taste for sprinkling
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla sugar (optional)
Ingredients for the chocolate sauce:
- 100 g of dark chocolate
- 100 ml of whipping cream
- 25 g of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of butter
Preparation
- For the churros, bring the water to a boil with the butter and pinch of salt.
- Remove from heat and add the flour all at once, stirring vigorously until the mixture is smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, working the mixture until it is well incorporated.
- Heat the oil in a deep frying pan. Put the dough in a piping bag with a star nozzle.
- Squeeze the dough directly into the hot oil, cutting the churros to the desired length with scissors.
- Fry the churros until golden, then drain and roll them in granulated sugar mixed with vanilla sugar.
- For the chocolate sauce, melt the chocolate with the butter in a double boiler.
- Heat the cream without bringing it to a boil and then pour it over the chocolate, mixing until you get a smooth sauce.
9 Add the powdered sugar and mix well.
The churros should be served hot, accompanied by the chocolate sauce for dipping.
Curiosity
Churros are very popular throughout Spain and Latin America, where they are often sold in churrerĂas or by street vendors. In Italy, you might find them at some fairs or village festivals. They represent the ultimate comfort food for a winter breakfast or a night snack after an evening with friends.
