Torta moretta

The Torta Moretta is a simple and delicate dessert, perfect for those who love sweet flavors but not too intense. Here’s how you can prepare it:

Ingredients

  • 200 g of all-purpose flour
  • 200 g of sugar
  • 100 g of butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Milk, as needed
  • Powdered sugar, for decoration (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Melt the butter and let it cool.
  3. In a bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until you obtain a frothy mixture.
  4. Add the melted butter to the egg and sugar mixture and mix well.
  5. Sift the flour with the cocoa and baking powder, then incorporate them into the rest of the batter, stirring gently.
  6. Gradually add milk until you get a soft and homogeneous mixture, which should still be thick enough to fall in ribbons.
  7. Pour the batter into a buttered and floured pan (or lined with parchment paper).
  8. Bake in the oven for about 35-40 minutes. To check the doneness, perform the toothpick test: if it comes out clean, the cake is ready.
  9. Let the cake cool, then if you wish, before serving, sprinkle the surface with powdered sugar.

It’s a very widespread and appreciated dessert, ideal for breakfast or a snack. You can enrich it by adding chopped nuts or chocolate chips to its base to give a touch of crunchiness or extra sweetness.
