Curry Veal Bites

Here is the recipe for curry veal bites with an Italian touch. Remember that curry is a spice mix that varies greatly from region to region, and in Italy, we find versions that are more or less spicy and aromatic. Here’s how to prepare this tasty dish.

Ingredients

  • 500 g of veal, cut into bites
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 200 ml of meat broth
  • 200 ml of cream or coconut milk for a more exotic variant
  • 2 tablespoons of curry powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • (Optional) A pinch of chili pepper for a spicier touch
  • (Optional) Chopped fresh parsley to garnish

Preparation

  1. Start by heating the extra virgin olive oil in a large pan.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion and garlic and sauté until they become translucent.
  3. Add the veal bites and sear them over high heat until they are golden brown on all sides.
  4. Sprinkle with curry powder and, if desired, add a pinch of chili pepper. Mix well to flavor the meat with the spices.
  5. Deglaze with a bit of meat broth and let the alcohol evaporate.
  6. Add the cream or coconut milk, lower the flame and cover the pan.
  7. Cook over medium-low heat for about 20-30 minutes, adding broth if necessary to keep the sauce from drying out too much.
  8. Season with salt and pepper and cook until the meat is tender.
  9. If you want a thicker sauce, you can dissolve a teaspoon of cornstarch in a little cold water and add it to the sauce, cooking for a few more minutes.

Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving and accompany with a side of basmati rice or, to stay on the Italian theme, with a good dish of soft polenta.
