Puffed Rice Crunch

Puffed rice crunch is a simple and delicious treat that is loved by both adults and children. Here is the recipe and procedure.

Ingredients

  • 200 g of dark or milk chocolate (depending on preference)
  • 100 g of puffed rice (can be plain or chocolate-coated)
  • 50 g of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of honey (optional)

Preparation

  1. Start by breaking the chocolate into pieces and melt it in a double boiler along with the butter. Stir with a spatula until you get a smooth and uniform mixture.

  2. If you want to add an extra touch of sweetness, incorporate two tablespoons of honey into the melted chocolate and mix until fully blended with the rest.

  3. Remove the chocolate from the heat and add the puffed rice. Mix well with the spatula to ensure that the puffed rice is completely covered in chocolate.

  4. Pour the mixture into a mold lined with parchment paper (it can be a square or rectangular baking pan) and flatten well with the back of a spoon, pressing down to compact it.

  5. Let it cool to room temperature. Then, place the crunch in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, until the chocolate has completely solidified.

  6. Once set, remove the crunch from the mold and cut it into pieces of the desired size.

Curiosity

Puffed rice crunch can be enriched with nuts, such as almonds or walnuts, for an interesting crunchy contrast. In some countries, this dessert is also called “rice crispy treats”, especially when it includes the addition of melted marshmallows.
