Crunchy Ice Creams

Crunchy ice creams are delicious cold treats, perfect for a sweet break, especially in the warmer months. Here’s how you can make them:

Ingredients

  • 200 g of dark chocolate
  • 40 g of butter
  • 50 g of puffed rice or cornflakes
  • Ice cream of your choice (vanilla, hazelnut, chocolate, etc.)

Preparation

  1. Start by chopping the dark chocolate and place it in a heat-resistant bowl.
  2. In a small pot, melt the butter over low heat. Once it’s completely melted, remove the pot from the heat and add the chopped chocolate.
  3. Mix well until the chocolate has completely melted, creating a smooth mixture.
  4. Add the puffed rice or cornflakes to the chocolate and melted butter mixture, and gently mix to avoid crushing them too much.
  5. Line a mini brownie mold or a muffin pan with clear film, to facilitate the release of the crunchy ice creams once frozen.
  6. Put a bit of the chocolate puffed rice in the bottom of each mold space, pressing slightly.
  7. Add a scoop of ice cream on top of the puffed rice in each space, trying to center it to have a uniform layer of chocolate around the ice cream.
  8. Cover the ice cream with another layer of chocolate puffed rice, pressing slightly to compact everything.
  9. Freeze the molds for at least 2-3 hours, until the crunchy ice creams are well solidified.
  10. When ready, remove the crunchy ice creams from the mold and let them rest for a few minutes at room temperature before serving to facilitate the detachment of the film.

Curiosity

Crunchy ice creams are highly customizable: besides the choice of ice cream flavor, you can enrich the chocolate with hazelnut crumbs, almond flakes, or grated coconut to get different flavors and an even crunchier texture. Another special touch can be using milk or white chocolate, depending on your preferences.

Experiment and find your favorite combination!
