Crispy Stars with Chocolate and Cinnamon

Crispy stars with chocolate and cinnamon are a delicious dessert ideal for the holidays or to accompany a cup of tea or coffee. Here is the recipe to prepare them.

Ingredients

  • 250 g of flour
  • 125 g of cold butter, cubed
  • 125 g of sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 100 g of dark chocolate
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for decorating)

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Add the cold, cubed butter and work the mixture with your fingers until it has a consistency similar to breadcrumbs.
  3. Add the egg and quickly knead until a smooth ball is formed.
  4. Wrap the dough in cling film and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180 °C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough with a rolling pin to about 3 mm thickness.
  7. Using a star-shaped cutter, cut out the cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges of the cookies begin to golden slightly.
  9. Remove from the oven and transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Meanwhile, melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave, being careful not to burn it.
  11. Once the cookies are cool, partially dip them into the melted chocolate and lay them on a piece of parchment paper to let the chocolate solidify.
  12. If desired, dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Fun Fact

Cinnamon is a spice much loved in sweet recipes, especially in Nordic countries and during the Christmas season. It adds a warm spiced aroma that pairs wonderfully with dark chocolate.

You can store the crispy stars in a tin box to keep them crunchy for longer. Have fun decorating these little stars and enjoy your meal!
