Creamy Spaghetti with Zucchini and Prague Ham

Here is a recipe for creamy spaghetti with zucchini and Prague ham – a simple but delicious dish that combines the delicate flavor of zucchini with the smoky taste of the ham:

Ingredients

  • 320 g of spaghetti
  • 2 medium zucchinis
  • 150 g of Prague ham
  • 200 ml of cooking cream
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese to taste
  • Fresh basil (optional)

Preparation

  1. Clean the zucchinis by cutting off the ends and slice them into rounds or julienne, depending on your preference.
  2. Cut the Prague ham into strips or cubes.
  3. In a large pan, heat a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and sauté the garlic clove to flavor the oil, then remove it.
  4. Add the zucchinis to the pan and sauté them until they become slightly golden brown.
  5. Add the Prague ham and let it flavor for a couple of minutes.
  6. In the meantime, bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti al dente following the instructions on the package.
  7. Once the zucchinis and ham are well sautéed, lower the heat and add the cooking cream to the vegetables, letting it cook for a few minutes until a slightly thick cream is obtained. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. Drain the spaghetti and transfer them into the pan with the zucchini and ham cream, tossing everything over high heat to mix the ingredients.
  9. Serve immediately with a sprinkling of Parmesan and, if you like, garnish with fresh basil leaves.

Curiosity

Prague ham, also known as “prosciutto Praga,” is a cold cut with a delicately smoked flavor, originating from the Czech Republic but also much appreciated in Italy. Often used to add a touch of flavor to hot dishes, it pairs particularly well with the creaminess of cream-based preparations.
