Creamy Chocolate and Pear Cake

Ingredients
- 200 g of dark chocolate
- 150 g of soft butter
- 150 g of sugar
- 3 eggs
- 150 g of type 00 flour
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 3 ripe pears (for Italian variations, thigh pears, known for their sweetness, can be used)
- A pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar (optional, for decoration)
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
- Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave and let it cool slightly.
- In the meantime, peel the pears and slice them thinly.
- In a bowl, cream the soft butter with the sugar until you get a creamy mixture.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, continuing to mix.
- Incorporate the melted chocolate and mix well.
- Add the sifted flour with the baking powder and the pinch of salt, folding gently so as not to deflate the mixture.
- Pour half of the batter into a greased and floured cake pan.
- Arrange some of the pear slices on top and cover with the remaining batter.
- Finish with the last pear slices on the surface.
- Bake everything for about 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool before dusting it with powdered sugar, if desired.
