Cod Bites

Here’s how to prepare tasty cod bites. This dish is simple, light, and suitable both as a main course and as an appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 400g of cod fillet
  • Flour as needed
  • 2 eggs
  • Breadcrumbs as needed
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Lemon juice (optional for serving)

Preparation

  1. Cut the cod fillet into pieces of about 3-4 cm to create the bites.
  2. In a deep plate, beat the eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Bread the bites by coating them first in flour, then in the beaten eggs, and finally in breadcrumbs, making sure they are well covered.
  4. Heat plenty of oil in a frying pan and, when it is hot, fry the cod bites until they are golden and crispy.
  5. Drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  6. Serve immediately, with a sprinkle of salt and a bit of lemon juice if you like.

Italian variation: You can add a Mediterranean touch to your breading by mixing breadcrumbs with a bit of grated Parmesan, chopped aromatic herbs such as parsley or basil, and a clove of garlic reduced to powder. This will give your bites a more aromatic and savory crust.

Enjoy your meal and remember that cod is a very versatile fish that lends itself to many other preparations, from baked to grilled!

Curiosity
