Coconut and chocolate balls

Coconut and chocolate balls are a deliciously indulgent spoon dessert that’s very easy to prepare, a classic for a sweet snack or as a decadent end to a meal. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 200 gr of shredded coconut
  • 200 gr of powdered sugar
  • 200 gr of dark chocolate
  • 1 egg white
  • A pinch of salt
  • (Optional) 2 tablespoons of rum or a few drops of vanilla essence

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, mix the shredded coconut with the powdered sugar.
  2. Add the egg white and a pinch of salt.
  3. If you decide to use a flavoring, add the rum or vanilla at this time.
  4. Knead until you have a homogeneous mixture that can be easily shaped.
  5. Take portions of the dough and form balls about the size of a walnut.
  6. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave, being careful not to burn it.
  7. Dip the balls one by one in the melted chocolate, using two forks to let the excess drip off.
  8. Place the balls on a sheet of parchment paper and let them cool.
  9. Once the chocolate has solidified, your coconut and chocolate balls are ready to be served.

You can store the balls in the refrigerator, separating them with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Curiosity

Coconut and chocolate balls are a variant of the more traditional coconut sweets. The chocolate coating adds a crunchiness and a contrast of flavors that make the treat even more irresistible. In addition, these delicacies do not require baking, which makes them particularly suitable for those who are not very practical with the oven.
