Spiderweb Cupcakes
17/11/2023Spiderweb Cupcakes are perfect for a themed party, especially if we’re talking about Halloween. Here’s how you can prepare these fun and slightly scary treats. I’ll add an Italian touch with a suggestion for the cream.
Ingredients
- 150 g of all-purpose flour
- 125 g of sugar
- 125 g of softened butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder (for the chocolate version)
- 120 ml of milk
For the spiderweb decoration:
- 100 g of cream cheese (such as Philadelphia)
- 50 g of powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Melted dark chocolate or ready-made black icing to draw the spiderweb
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C and prepare a muffin tray with paper liners.
- In a bowl, mix the softened butter with sugar until you have a fluffy mixture.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa (if choosing the chocolate version), and baking powder.
- Add the flour mixture to the butter and egg mix, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
- Fill the paper liners about two-thirds full and bake for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before decorating.
For the decoration:
- In a bowl, mix the cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until you have a smooth, spreadable cream.
- Spread a layer of this cream over the cooled cupcakes.
- Using the black icing or melted chocolate in a parchment paper cone or a pastry syringe, draw three or four concentric circles starting from the center of the cupcake.
- Take a toothpick and draw lines from the center of the cupcake towards the outside, crossing the circles, to create the spiderweb effect.
Curiosity
Spiderweb cupcakes are a fun choice for Halloween parties. To add an extra touch, you can also place a small sugar decoration in the shape of a spider on top of the web. Now your treats are perfect to scare (and delight) your guests!
