  • 100 g of butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 120 g of sugar

  • 100 g of chopped walnuts
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C and butter a cake pan.
  2. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler along with the butter.
  3. In a bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until you have a frothy and light mixture.
  4. Add the grated orange zest and juice to the mixture of eggs and sugar, mixing well.
  5. Gently fold in the melted chocolate and butter into the egg mixture.
  6. Add the sifted flour, chopped walnuts, pinch of salt, and baking powder, stirring until you get a smooth batter.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool before unmolding and serving.

Notes:

  • Make sure that the eggs and butter are at room temperature before starting to ensure the ingredients are well integrated.
  • If you like, you can add chocolate chips to the cake or increase the amount of walnuts for a more intense flavor.
  • For decoration, you can dust the cake with powdered sugar or glaze it with melted dark chocolate.

Curiosity

The combination of chocolate and orange has very ancient origins and is often used in the production of chocolates and desserts, especially during the Christmas season. Walnuts, on the other hand, add not only flavor and crunchiness but also nutritional value, being rich in essential fatty acids.
