Chocolate Strawberries

Chocolate strawberries are a simple yet delicious dessert, as well as an elegant idea for a sweet gift or a refined end to a meal.

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries, as needed (about 200 g for 2-4 people)
  • Dark chocolate, 100 g
  • Milk chocolate, 50 g (optional for a sweeter variant)
  • Coconut oil or butter, 1 tablespoon (optional, but helps make the chocolate shinier)

Preparation

  1. Wash the strawberries carefully and dry them completely. It is important that they are dry so that the chocolate sticks well.
  2. Break the chocolate into small pieces and place it in a bowl.
  3. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave (if you opt for the microwave, be careful to heat it in short intervals, stirring each time to prevent it from burning).
  4. If you choose to use coconut oil or butter, add it to the melted chocolate and mix until you have a smooth and homogeneous mixture.
  5. Hold the strawberries by the stem and dip them into the melted chocolate, gently rotating them to cover almost entirely.
  6. Place the chocolate-covered strawberries on a sheet of parchment paper and let the chocolate solidify. You can speed up the process by putting the strawberries in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
  7. Serve the chocolate strawberries when the shell is firm.

Curiosity

This simple dessert has recent origins and does not belong to the tradition of a specific place, although it has become popular all over the world, especially on holidays like Valentine’s Day. The contrast between the sweet-sour strawberries and the bitterness of dark chocolate creates a very pleasant balance of taste that has seduced sweet tooths of all ages.
