Coffee Chocolate Salami
17/11/2023Coffee chocolate salami is a delicious variant of a classic snack or dessert sweet. Here is the recipe:
Ingredients
- 200 g of dry biscuits
- 100 g of powdered sugar
- 100 g of soft butter
- 150 g of dark chocolate
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur (like Kahlua or another of your choice)
- 2 teaspoons of instant coffee
- Cocoa powder as needed for finishing
Preparation
- Start by roughly chopping the biscuits until they’re broken into small pieces, but not pulverized.
- Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave, making sure not to burn it.
- In a bowl, mix the soft butter with the powdered sugar until you have a smooth cream.
- Add the egg and mix well.
- Incorporate the melted chocolate, coffee liqueur, and instant coffee. Stir until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.
- Add the chopped biscuits to the mixture and mix well.
- On a sheet of parchment paper, pour the mixture and shape it into a salami, then wrap it tightly and seal the ends.
- Place in the refrigerator for at least 3-4 hours, so it firms up well.
- Before serving, roll the chocolate salami in cocoa powder to simulate the ‘rind’ of the salami.
Curiosity
Chocolate salami is a popular no-bake dessert in both Italy and Portugal, where it’s known as “salame de chocolate”. The coffee variation pairs perfectly with the intensity of the chocolate, creating a taste experience for true lovers of both bitter and sweet.
When adding the liquid ingredient like the coffee liqueur, be careful not to exceed the amount to prevent the mixture from becoming too soft. Have fun preparing it and bon appétit!
