Chocolate Nests with Mini Eggs

The chocolate nests with mini eggs are a small Easter delight perfect to celebrate with a touch of sweetness. Here is how to prepare them:

Ingredients

  • 200 g of dark chocolate
  • 100 g of crispy cereals (such as corn flakes or puffed rice)
  • A handful of colored chocolate eggs or chocolate/caramel eggs
  • Butter or coconut oil (optional, to make the chocolate more workable)

Preparation

  1. Start by chopping up the dark chocolate. If you prefer, you can also use chocolate chips that are ready to be melted.
  2. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave. If you need help with the double boiler, place a heat-resistant bowl on top of a pot with shallow water that is slightly simmering. Ensure that the water does not touch the bottom of the bowl. Stir the chocolate until it is completely melted and smooth.
  3. If desired, you can add a bit of butter or coconut oil to the melted chocolate to make it shinier and softer.
  4. Add the crispy cereals to the melted chocolate and gently mix, making sure to fully coat them.
  5. Take some muffin molds and line them with parchment paper, or use paper cupcake liners.
  6. Distribute the chocolate and cereal mixture into the molds, pressing in the center to form a small indentation that will simulate the nest.
  7. Let the nests cool at room temperature or in the refrigerator to harden them more quickly.
  8. Once the chocolate nests have solidified, gently remove them from the molds and place a few colorful eggs in the center of each one.

Curiosity

These chocolate nests represent a charming Easter tradition and are also a great way to get children involved in the preparation of festive sweets. Obviously, given the theme, they are very much appreciated during the Easter period.
