Chocolate Kisses

Chocolate Kisses are spoon desserts, small and delicious, evoking the style and romance of Italy. They are perfect to conclude a dinner or as a sweet gift. Here is how to make them:

Ingredients

  • 150 g of dark chocolate
  • 100 g of Nutella or hazelnut cream
  • 100 g of roasted hazelnuts
  • 150 g of milk chocolate
  • Silver foil cups for chocolates

Preparation

  1. Start by finely chopping 50 g of roasted hazelnuts. These will be used for the interior filling of the chocolates.

  2. Melt 150 g of dark chocolate in a double boiler. Make sure that the water is hot but not boiling to prevent the chocolate from burning. Alternatively, you can melt it in the microwave, proceeding with 20-30 second intervals to avoid overheating.

  3. Once melted, use a teaspoon to pour a little melted chocolate into the bottom of the silver foil cups, spreading it well to create the base of your Kisses. Allow the chocolate to harden in the refrigerator or at room temperature, in a cool place.

  4. Meanwhile, combine the Nutella or hazelnut cream with the chopped hazelnuts and mix until you create a smooth filling.

  5. Take out the now hardened chocolate bases and add a teaspoon of hazelnut and Nutella filling to each one.

  6. Melt the milk chocolate in a double boiler and, once ready, cover the Nutella and hazelnut filling with melted chocolate to seal the sweet.

  7. Finish by placing a whole hazelnut on each Kiss before the chocolate solidifies.

  8. Let the Chocolate Kisses cool until they are well solidified. You can speed up the process by putting them back in the refrigerator.

Like the famous Perugina Kisses, these sweets can also be accompanied by a message or a thought to hide under each chocolate, to make them even more special and personalized.

Curiosity

The tradition of inserting a note inside the Kisses dates back to the creation of the famous Perugina Kisses, known worldwide. Initially, they were called “Cazzotti” due to their irregular shape, but the name was later changed to the more romantic “Baci”.
