Chocolate flower cupcake

I can provide you with a recipe to prepare delicious Chocolate flower cupcakes. Here is the recipe with a little Italian twist, perhaps using a good Italian artisan chocolate to give it an extra touch.

Ingredients

  • 150 gr of type 00 flour
  • 30 gr of high-quality bitter cocoa powder (perhaps an Italian chocolate)
  • 125 gr of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder for sweets
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 120 ml of whole milk
  • 1 egg
  • 50 gr of melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 100 gr of high-quality dark chocolate (if possible, Italian artisan chocolate)

For the frosting:

  • 150 gr of high-quality dark chocolate
  • 100 gr of room temperature butter
  • 200 gr of icing sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Sugar pearls or decorations as desired

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F) and prepare a muffin tray with paper liners.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer or using an electric whisk, mix the flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Mix until you have a homogeneous mixture.
  4. Transfer the mixture into the paper liners, filling them up to 3/4 of their capacity.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center of the cupcakes.
  6. While the cupcakes are cooling, prepare the frosting by melting the chocolate in a bain-marie or microwave and allowing it to cool slightly.
  7. Whip the butter with icing sugar and vanilla until you get a cream. Add the melted chocolate and mix until the frosting becomes smooth.
  8. Decorate the cupcakes with the frosting using a pastry bag with a flower-shaped nozzle or as you prefer.
  9. Garnish with sugar pearls or themed decorations.

If you want to add an extra personal touch, you could place a strawberry or another fresh fruit on top of each cupcake to contrast the sweetness of the chocolate. With this recipe, you will surely delight the palates of friends and family.

Curiosity

Cupcakes, also called “cup cakes,” originated in the United States in the 19th century, but we can give them a wholly homegrown touch using top-quality ingredients from our land, like an Italian chocolate or good vanilla from sustainable cultivations.
