Ingredients
For the cupcakes:
- 150 g of all-purpose flour
- 30 g of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 120 g of granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 100 ml of milk
- 80 ml of vegetable oil
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
For the pink heart:
- 100 g of white chocolate
- Red food coloring
For the icing:
- 200 g of dark chocolate
- 100 g of whipping cream
Preparation
- Start by making the pink heart. Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave and add a few drops of red food coloring until you achieve a shade of pink that you like.
- Pour the colored chocolate onto a sheet of parchment paper and spread it into an even layer. Let it cool until it solidifies, then use a small heart-shaped cutter to cut out little hearts. Put them in the fridge to further set.
- Prepare the cupcake batter by mixing in a bowl the flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, and oil until well combined.
- Mix the two mixtures together and stir until you have a smooth, lump-free batter.
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
- Fill the cupcake molds about halfway with the batter, then place a pink chocolate heart in the center and cover with more batter until three-quarters full.
- Bake the cupcakes in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the cupcakes cool, prepare the icing. Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave and mix it with the whipped cream until smooth.
- When the cupcakes are cool, decorate the surface with the icing using a pastry bag with a star tip for a decorative effect.
- Serve the cupcakes, dramatically revealing the pink heart inside at the first bite.
Curiosity
The pink heart inside the cupcakes is not just a sweet surprise, but also a creative way to celebrate special occasions such as Valentine’s Day or to convey affectionate messages. This technique can also be used with other colors or shapes, depending on the event you wish to celebrate.
