Crunchy with chocolate
17/11/2023Crunchy with chocolate is a delightful treat that is quite simple to make. Ideal for a snack or to finish a meal with a touch of sweetness. Here is how to prepare it.
Ingredients
- 200 g of whole almonds (or peanuts, hazelnuts)
- 200 g of sugar
- 100 g of dark chocolate
- 1 tablespoon of water
- A pinch of salt
Preparation
-
Toast the almonds in the oven at 180°C for about 10 minutes, or in a skillet over medium heat, until they are lightly golden brown. Be careful not to burn them.
-
In a non-stick pan, put the sugar and water and let it caramelize over low heat, stirring occasionally. When the sugar starts to boil, stop stirring. Cook until it has a nice, light amber color.
-
Once the caramel is ready, add the toasted almonds and a pinch of salt and mix well to fully coat them.
-
Pour the mixture of almonds and caramel onto a sheet of parchment paper, spread it with a spatula to get an even thickness, and let it cool down.
-
Meanwhile, melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler or microwave, being careful not to burn it.
-
Spread the melted chocolate over the cooled crunchy in an even layer.
-
Allow the chocolate to cool, ideally in the fridge, for at least an hour before breaking the crunchy into pieces.
-
Serve as a dessert or snack.
Curiosity
Crunchy is an ancient dessert, often associated with festivals and local feasts in various Italian regions. The addition of chocolate is a more modern indulgent variation that combines the pleasure of traditional crunchy with the richness of the chocolate, creating a perfect union of textures and flavors.
