Chocolate and Pear Fritters

Chocolate and pear fritters are a delicious dessert that combines the delicate sweetness of pears with the richness of chocolate. Here is the recipe to prepare them.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe but still firm pears
  • 150 g of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 100 ml of milk
  • 50 g of melted butter
  • 100 g of dark chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder for desserts
  • A pinch of salt
  • Seed oil for frying
  • Icing sugar (optional, for decorating)

Preparation

  1. Start by washing and peeling the pears. Remove the core and cut them into not too small cubes.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until you get a light and frothy mixture.
  3. Gently incorporate the sifted flour with the baking powder, alternating with the milk to prevent lumps.
  4. Add the melted butter and a pinch of salt to the mixture and stir to blend all the ingredients well.
  5. Cut the dark chocolate into small pieces and add it to the batter along with the pear cubes.
  6. In a large pan, heat plenty of seed oil.
  7. With the help of two spoons or an ice cream scoop, take some of the batter and fry it in the hot oil until the fritters are golden on all sides.
  8. Make sure to fry them in small quantities at a time so as not to lower the temperature of the oil and turn them during cooking for an even browning.
  9. Drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  10. Before serving, you can dust the fritters with icing sugar for a sweet and decorative final touch.

Curiosity

Fritters are a dessert that lends itself to endless variations, depending on the season and the occasion. In this Italian version, the pairing of pears and chocolate is typical of the confectionary tradition of Northern Italy, especially Piedmont, where these ingredients are also used to fill cakes and tarts.
